McDonald’s Net Tops Estimates as Global Sales Climb |

McDonald’s Corp., the world’s largest restaurant company, reported fourth-quarter earnings and revenue that topped analysts’ estimates as global sales at established stores increased 2.3 percent.
Sales at stores open at least 13 months grew in every region in both the quarter and in December as a mix of value offerings and new products, longer operating hours and remodeled restaurants drew consumers. January sales “remain positive,” Chief Executive Officer Jim Skinner said in a statement today.
McDonald’s is rolling out a $1 breakfast menu in the U.S. and offering free Internet access to help boost domestic sales. U.S. comparable sales rose 0.1 percent in the quarter, the slowest growth rate for the region in at least four years.
