Bank of America Sept. credit card defaults fall |

Bank of America on Friday said its credit card default rate dropped sharply in September, but late payments edged up slightly.
The Charlotte, N.C.-based bank said it wrote off 9.98 percent of balances in September, down from 11.72 percent in August and its lowest rate this year.
Card companies typically write off loans after they're 180 days past due, the point at which it's assumed the balances won't be able to be collected.
