Global chip sales rise in March - SIA |

The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) said worldwide sales of semiconductors totaled 20.3 bln usd in March, up 1.0 pct on February and up 3.2 year on year.
The SIA said first-quarter sales were 61 bln usd, up 3.2 pct on the same period a year ago, but were down 6.5 pct on the final quarter of 2006.
The association said price pressures resulting from competition in major market segments such as DRAMs, DSPs and NAND flash - key components of personal computers, mobile phones, and other portable consumer products - limited industry growth despite higher unit shipments in March.
