Nasdaq can't keep up with Dow's, S&P's record pace |

Even as the Standard & Poor's 500 makes a serious run at its record, briefly topping its 2000 closing high Monday, tech stock investors aren't in a party mood.
The Dow Jones industrial average has set 24 highs this year and the S&P 500 is just 0.2% from setting one, but the tech-heavy Nasdaq composite index remains a painful 48.9% from its 5048.62 high set on March 10, 2000.
That lingering deficit, amid an abundance of stock market riches, is staggering because it roughly equals the 49.1% the S&P 500 was down at the low point of the bear market.
