With labor talks put to rest at Chrysler, all eyes turn to Ford, where prospects for a deal that pleases Wall Street look increasingly favorable.
The United Auto Workers reached a tentative agreement on a new labor contract with Chrysler and its private-equity owner, Cerberus Capital Management, late Wednesday after a short, six-hour labor strike.
The outcome followed a pattern set two weeks ago at General Motors, where UAW members just voted to ratify a new four-year labor contract that was agreed to after a two-day strike. Initial reports say that Chrysler's deal resembles GM's, indicating that a similar agreement is in store for Ford, which is last in line at the negotiating table.
